Playwrights' Pantheon: Meet the Authors

Discover the creative minds behind each of our 10-minute plays.

Jean Farkas

Jean, a rationalist by nature, dips into a bit of fantasy in this play.

Jean and David met in the mid-60’s at the University of Rochester, where they were both English majors. She enjoyed a career as a technical editor and writer that included writing mine rescue materials in West Virginia and managing a documentation group at Microsoft.

She serves as the stage manager of the Goat Hill Theater, a group of friends who stage 10-minute plays. This is her first dramatic effort.

Irinel Crivat

Irinel Crivat - Board member at Woodinville Repertory TheatreIrinel has honed her craft in both the tech and artistic realms.

With a background in Mathematics and an MBA from the University of Washington, she shapes software products in her day job. Driven by a deep-seated passion for storytelling, Irinel has embarked on a journey with the Woodinville Repertory Theatre, championing endeavors that blur the lines between technology and art.

Her dramatic efforts weave narratives that resonate with our shared humanity touching on themes that connect people across different backgrounds and experiences.

Dana Campbell

Dana Campbell

Dana Campbell really did spend childhood living across the street from Dix, thoroughly enjoying an endless diversity of exciting escapades.

Back then, even the ordinary was extraordinary: on his carpool pickup days, Dix drove his sparkly red “motor-trike,” (just enough room for three small passengers to perch on the back seat), creating a grand exit down the middle-school driveway through the purple cloud of a smoke bomb.
Adult life, while not as colorful as the Days of Dix, is rewarding and full: Dana teaches biology at UW Bothell, collaborates on diverse projects with wonderful Washingtonian neighbors, and finds great joy in time with her two radical grown-up kids, sweet pup, and the best husband ever.

Nancy Rosen

NancyNancy has lived, worked, and studied around the U.S., in France, and on an Israeli kibbutz.

Born in N.Y., she now calls Washington home. She studied languages and literature, enjoys reading, knitting, opera and dance, writing, keeping house, exercising, politics, and being with family and friends. A true Gemini, she loves outdoors (also indoors), being with people (being alone).

She has taught at U.S. and French universities and worked in international relations including at the U.N., taught French immersion 4th grade in Oklahoma, loves dogs, and volunteers with nonprofits.

Dan Baird

Dan BairdDan Baird is a British born higher education writer by day and amateur playwright by night…or tonight at least since this is his first staged play.

Dan loves storytelling and in the past has organized public speaking events with Ignite Seattle and hosted a live community radio show in Melbourne, Australia. In his spare time, Dan enjoys snuggling with his cat Petra and making his wife Jamie laugh.

Charles Anstett

Charles Anstett has performed in several of Goat Hill Theatre Company’s 10-minute plays and helped behind the scenes. With some prodding by Dave Farkas, he wrote The Memory Unit.

Charles is originally from Chicago and has lived in Washington state since 2018. When not involved in theater, Charles works as a family psychiatric nurse practitioner.

David Farkas

David FarkasDave enjoyed a long career teaching technical communication, primarily at the University of Washington.

Dave was raised in Manhattan and in the New Jersey suburbs. He has attended theater (initially Broadway musicals) since childhood. He holds a Ph.D. in British literature from the University of Minnesota, with a focus on Shakespeare and the other Elizabethans.

Dave has Kindle-published two collections of 10-minute plays, is completing a how-to book, and just finished teaching a course on writing 10-minute plays for the Woodinville Repertory Theater. He and Jean Farkas manage the very informal Goat Hill Theater Company, based in Lake Forest Park.
