Meet the Playwright: Jim Moran

Jim (he/him) received his MFA in Playwriting from UNLV where his thesis play Emerald Eagle premiered at Nevada Conservatory Theatre.  Shortly after, his play Martian Manhunter Lives was seen Off-Broadway at the Snapple Theater Center and he obtained a PONY Fellowship nomination from the LARK Play Development Center. While in Seattle, Eclectic Theater has premiered three of his plays including September Skies (“…the writing is taut, witty, and true…a study in how desperately we flail for what we want during these few short years we call life” – Seattle Weekly) and Across A Little Red Marker (…a frisky and entertaining piece of work” – The Stranger) to critical acclaim.  More recently, his comedy …And Starring Claire From Hollywood debuted with Macha Theatre Works at 18th and Union Arts Place.  His work has also been presented in Seattle at 14/48: The World’s Quickest Theatre Festival, Bainbridge Performing Arts, Northwest Playwrights Alliance’s Double Shot Festival, The Schoolyard at the Re-Bar, and Sandbox Radio Live.  He also served as the assistant to Tony Award-Winning playwright Terrence McNally for the book of Catch Me If You Can, the Musical when it debuted at 5th Avenue Theatre.  Finally, Jim is a current card-carrying member of the Dramatists Guild of America.

Meet the Director: Jane Ryan

Jane (she/her) is proud to serve as the Artistic Director of Woodinville Rep. She directed our virtual fall production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Previously at the WRT, she directed Arsenic and Old LaceCalifornia Suite, The Last Romance, and Crimes of the Heart. A professional actress and director, Jane has taught extensively in Seattle-area theatres and schools. Other favorite directing projects include A Streetcar Named Desire for SecondStory Rep, Pinocchio for Theater Schmeater, as well as Picasso at the Lapin Agile and The Book Club Play for Twelfth Night Productions.

Meet the Cast: in order of appearance

LEE YANG (Rory)

Lee is an improviser and actor in Seattle. Previous stage appearances include Saint Joan (ArtsWest), Washer/Dryer (Pratidhwani & SIS Productions), Boeing Boeing (SecondStory Rep), and Death of a Salesman (Short Order Theatre). He also appeared virtually in Night Parade: Ghost Forest (Cafe Nordo) and Snow in Midsummer (Harlequin Productions). He thanks scientists and medical workers for all the work they do, and thanks you for being a wonderful audience. 

BRIAN PUCHEU  (Jason)

Brian (he/him), originally from California, has been a Seattle resident for 7+ years now.  Has made a living acting in theater and film, also remodeling and carpentry.  Select local credits include Bright Star (Jimmy Ray) at Taproot Theatre, Jitterbug Perfume (Alobar) at Cafe Nordo, Hours of Life (Edger A. Poe) at Cornish Playhouse, and Dr. Jekyll (Jekyll & Hyde) at Renton Civic Theatre.  Special thanks to Jane Ryan for this opportunity.

KEVIN LIN  (Caleb)

Kevin Lin (he/him) is honored to make his Woodinville Repertory Theatre debut. He is a member of HERON Ensemble and The Seagull Project. Kevin can be heard in Book-It Repertory Theatre’s upcoming audioplay The Mandala of Sherlock Holmes. Other credits include The Horse In Motion, Seattle Children’s Theatre, Seattle Public Theater, MAP Theater, SIS Productions, ReAct Theatre, and Pork Filled Productions.

KEIRY VALDEZ  (Alyssa)

Keiry (she/her) is excited to play again after a two year hiatus. Unless 2020 doesn’t count, then it’s just one. She was last seen as Mama Euralie in Twelfth Night’s production of Once On This Island, and has frequented their summer productions since Anything Goes in 2012. Keiry looks forward to playing the role of Alyssa in an imagined post Covid existence and awaits the day that we are living in a “post Covid” world.

JESICA AVELLONE (Valerie)

Jesica (she/her) is an actor, teaching artist, and voiceover actor in Seattle, where she has performed with Book-It Repertory Theatre, Cafe Nordo, Seattle Shakespeare Company/Wooden O, and Washington Ensemble Theatre. She was honored to be a member of the Gregory Award-nominated ensemble of Book-It’s American Junkie. She received her BFA from Boston University. YENA HAN  (Tisch)

Yena (she/her) is excited to work with Woodinville Rep for the first time. She graduated from Rice University with a BA in Theatre & English, and has since performed at various theatres around Seattle, including Head Over Heels (ArtsWest), The White Snake (ReAct), and Rigoletto (Seattle Opera).
